Join us on our visit to Anthoij Rupert Wine Farm

A beautiful estate with excellent wines, restaurant with absolutely delicious food, attention to detail staff… spend an hour or spend the day and experience the full package….

What an amazing opportunity I got when I was invited to visit Anthonij Rupert Wines in Franschhoek to experience the Estate Package, one of many experiences that they have on offer.

The drive up to the Manor house is breathless.  The property is so well kept, green and luscious lawns with beautiful rose bushes and flowers everywhere.

We arrived at about 10.45am and received a very warm welcome along with an ice cold glass of the L’Ormarins Method Cap Classique Brut NV.  https://lormarinswines.com/cap-classique/  We were invited to walk around the Manor House to view their wines and products on display (all to purchase) as well as a beautiful bedroom in which I could not resist but take some photos.  History is lined along the walls and makes for some interesting reading.  A quick flit to rest rooms before departure.

We were then handed a voucher which you need to hold onto throughout your visit.  You need to present this at every stop during the day. At exactly 11am we departed from the Manor House and headed off to the Franschhoek Motor Museum via tram.

Once again our travels took us through really beautiful surroundings and I even got to view some of their horses frolicking in the paddocks.  (I am great horse lover so this was a stunning moment for me).

We arrived at the Franschhoek Motor Museum and checked in at reception.  Once again a warm and lovely greeting by the staff.  We had an hour and a half to walk through 4 showrooms with over 80 motor vehicles and bikes on display.  I took so many photos and had melt downs with all the beauty around us. My favourites were the 1957 Light Blue Protea and the red Viper GT2 from 2006…if only!! The gardens and rose bushes are beautiful that surround the showrooms. https://www.fmm.co.za/

The tram then arrived and whisked us away for our first wine tasting at Terra Del Capo along with lunch at the Antipasta Bar.  On arrival we were handed another glass of L’Ormarins Method Cap Classique Brut NV (strongly becoming a firm favourite of mine).  They also have lovely products on display and wine that one can purchase.  A walk up their beautiful staircase leads you to their wine tasting centre.  Yassiem was pretty knowledgeable about the wines and we enjoyed the 2020 Pinot Grigio, the 2017 Sangiovese and Arné.  My favourite (and we all open to choices) was the 2017 Sangiovese @ only R100 per bottle!  Great price for a stunning wine!  https://terradelcapowines.com/

By now I was pretty famished and looking very forward to lunch.  The restaurant is situated alongside the bottling plant and you are able to watch work in progress through floor to ceiling windows.  The décor and furnishings are immaculate and super pretty.  I loved the background music which suited the restaurant 100%.  Their menu varies all the time but on Saturday we enjoyed some really scrumptious dishes (see attached) even though I cannot pronounce half of it.  The food was all so fresh and well-presented and simply delicious, left there full and very satisfied…

Our final destination was the Manor house where our experience started for our final wine tasting of the Anthonij Rupert Range.  I chose 3 wines. The 2017 Optima, 2014 Syrah and 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, my favourite being reds as you can see.  What truly phenomenal wines and what a magical garden to taste them in.  https://anthonijrupert.com/?no-check

After about 4 hours it was sadly time to bid farewell.  This is one experience I will not forget and intend visiting soon to try one of their other tasting options that they have available and you can view then all here. https://anthonijrupertwyne.activitar.com/products
